Even non Muslims are affected on the observance of Ramadan; Filipinos working in the Middle East are also participating in abstinence of not eating and drinking while they are at work. During Ramadan working hours was also reduced. I guess this time of the year was the hottest particularly in Dubai, hubby said the other day that the temperature surged to 44 degrees Celsius.
Yesterday, I read in the news that workers can break their Ramadan and permitted to drink due to extreme heat to avoid health problems. "It is permissible for workers in certain professions to break the fast because of severe hardship," says the fatwa, or Islamic religious edict, issued by the General Authority for Islamic Affairs and Endowments. Since Dubai is an open country I heard that local women are not visible in wearing an abaya unlike in some Middle East countries, maybe more women are more inclined now in buying and searching for their casual wear at urban clothing.
